YARD STAFF / DELIVERY DRIVER

FULL-TIME

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Successful candidate will help to maintain the lumberyard. They will be responsible to load, unload, and store materials using a variety of equipment including forklifts. They will also greet and serve yard customers and should be familiar with inventory, prices, returns, and exchange policies. They will also be responsible for delivering products and/or supplies to customers, vendors, job sites, or other locations. Duties include operating freight handling equipment, maintenance, and operation of company vehicles, and verification of administrative paperwork.

DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Load and unload materials.
• Assist customers with advice, information and/or help in gathering and loading orders.
• Keep the yard clean and the inventory neat and orderly.
• Be familiar with the locations of all inventory and equipment.
• Be familiar with the safe operation and maintenance of equipment, including forklift, pallet jack, etc.
• Deliver purchases and/or pick up returned goods.
• Receive incoming merchandise.
• Report company vehicle needs to supervisor.
• Follow company procedures regarding required signatures, forms, receipts, etc.
• Follow proper documentation procedures for any merchandise that is to be returned or refused.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must have clean driver’s abstract.
• Class 3 driver’s license.
• Ability to work weekends.
• Ability to communicate effectively with customers, management, and other employees in person, by telephone, or by radio.
• Ability to visually verify contents of shipments.
• Ability to work co-operatively in a team environment.
• Must be able to safely operate yard equipment and tools.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Must be able to move materials weighing up to 100 pounds around the yard, placing them on or removing them from trucks, pallets, etc.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: From $17.00 per hour

• 8 hour shift
• Weekend availability

Ability to commute/relocate:

• Three Hills, AB: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
